Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. You can use Hindsight on the Free plan without one. To subscribe, sign in with Apple or Google.

How do I restore my purchases?

Sign in to Hindsight with the account you subscribed with. Then open Account and tap Restore purchases. Use the same Apple ID you paid with.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

Apple manages your subscription. To cancel, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. In Hindsight, Account › Manage subscription opens the same page. We can't cancel for you. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the current period.

To change plans, open Account › Manage subscription. A higher plan starts right away. A lower plan, or a switch between weekly and yearly, starts when the current period ends.

How do I get a refund?

Apple decides refunds. In Hindsight, open Account › Manage subscription and tap Request a refund. Apple emails you its decision. During a free trial you haven't been charged, so there's nothing to refund.

How do I delete my account?

Open Account and tap Delete account. This deletes your account and its data on our server. It doesn't cancel your subscription, so cancel that first in Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Your portfolios stay on your iPhone. The Privacy Policy lists what's deleted and what stays.

Where does the data come from?

Daily prices come from a market data provider. They update after each US trading day. Interest rates, inflation and factor data come from public sources such as FRED and the Ken French Data Library. Simulated returns are models built from index and factor data. Any of this can be late, incomplete or wrong. Check important figures elsewhere before you act on them.

What can people see in a share link?

Anyone with the link can see the portfolio's name, holdings and rebalance schedule, and open it in Hindsight. Short links also show a preview with its CAGR, max drawdown and period. Links don't include your settings or your account. Choose names you're happy for others to see. To remove a short link, email it to us.

Can Hindsight trade for me?

No. Hindsight never places trades, holds money or connects to a brokerage account. It's a research tool.
